Ocean College was established in July 2002. Since its establishment, the college has always adhered to the teaching-centered work, aiming at improving the quality of education and cultivating applied talents with strong practical ability. Relying on the abundant marine resources in the South China Sea and featuring the research, development, utilization and protection of tropical marine resources, the College has opened a major closely related to economic construction, developed marine science and technology, and delivered all kinds of applied high-quality talents for marine modernization and protection in China. After years of construction, the faculty construction, discipline construction, school scale, scientific research and laboratory construction of the college have all developed rapidly and won many honorary titles. In 2007, the college was rated as the advanced collective of Hainan education system; In 2005 and 2007, the Marine Biology Laboratory was rated as an excellent laboratory in the province. The Ministry of Fisheries was rated as "National Advanced Team" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and won the "May 1 Labor Award". Many teachers received various honors and commendations. It has become the main base for scientific research and personnel training in the field of marine science in Hainan Province, and the breeding of tropical marine economic animals and the utilization of marine life are the construction projects of our school.
