Physical and chemical properties of n- methyl-p-nitroaniline and its application in resin industry.
Molecular formula: C7H8N2O2

Molecular weight: 152.438+05

Si Nuo. : 100- 15-2

Description: brownish yellow prismatic crystal with purple light. The melting point is 65438 052℃. Soluble in acetone and benzene, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water.

Preparation method: It is prepared from p-nitroacetanilide, methyl iodide and ethanol. Mixing acetone, p-nitroacetanilide and potassium hydroxide, heating and refluxing, dropwise adding acetone solution of methyl iodide, and continuing refluxing for 4 hours. Standing overnight, recovering acetone, precipitating crystals, cooling to remove alkalinity, and washing with ethanol to obtain N- methyl p-nitroacetanilide. Then mixing with ethanol and hydrochloric acid, heating and refluxing for 8 hours, recovering ethyl acetate and ethanol, diluting with water, washing off acidity, and drying to obtain a crude product. Dissolving the crude product with acetone, filtering, recovering acetone, and precipitating crystals to obtain the finished product.

Uses: used in organic synthesis, dye intermediates.
