The School of Art and Design of Yanshan University was formerly an industrial modeling major founded by 1993. 200 1 The school established an art department on the basis of three majors: industrial design, environmental art design and music performance. In 2004, the College of Art was established, and in 2008, it was renamed the College of Art and Design. The college now has industrial design department, art design department, music department, sculpture department and comprehensive experiment center, and has two master's degree authorized disciplines: design art (industrial design, art design direction) and musicology (music performance direction). The college has a strong faculty, with 76 full-time teachers, including associate professors 16, master tutor 13, and 53 teachers with doctoral and master degrees. At the same time, famous experts and scholars at home and abroad are invited to give lectures or carry out other academic exchange activities for a long time. The college has first-class teaching facilities and advanced experimental equipment, and the construction area for teaching, scientific research and artistic practice activities exceeds 10000 square meters. The 27,500-square-meter new teaching building of the College of Art and Design was completed in 2009. Modern art galleries, concert halls, art design classrooms and piano rooms have been put into use, and creative space has been set up, providing a good artistic atmosphere for teachers and students of the college. The college is also equipped with advanced computer-aided design classrooms, audio-visual classrooms, electric piano classrooms, multimedia classrooms, three-dimensional modeling laboratories, imaging laboratories and book reference rooms with rich collections, which provide a solid guarantee and a good platform for teachers and students to carry out teaching and scientific research activities.
