I. Training objectives and school-running characteristics
In order to meet the growing demand of society for compound talents with "thick foundation, wide caliber and high quality", China Center for Economic Research of Peking University started to offer a double-degree minor in economics for non-economics majors in Peking University from 1996. Since the start of the project, it has been well-known both inside and outside the school with its scientific curriculum system, first-class teachers and standardized teaching content, and has trained a group of economic talents with a wide knowledge background for the society. By the end of 2003, six students had graduated, including *** 1846 from all departments except School of Economics and Guanghua School of Management. At present, there are more than 1850 double-degree students. This project not only adds new professional choices for students, but also provides more opportunities for their employment. With the approval of the Academic Affairs Department of Peking University, China Center for Economic Research began to recruit off-campus undergraduates and postgraduates to study for a double degree in economics with Peking University students.
