History of Huaibei Middle School in Jiangsu Province
Huaibei Middle School in Jiangsu Province was founded in 194 1, formerly known as "Huaibei Middle School in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region". It is an anti-Japanese military and political school founded by proletarian revolutionaries and military strategists of the older generation such as Chen Yi, Zhang, Deng Zihui and Peng Xuefeng. The first headmaster, Mr. Ren Gao Chong, was a famous educator, revolutionary activist, patriotic democrat and one of the "Eight Masters" in modern times.

194 1 In May, the fourth division commander and political commissar of the New Fourth Army, Comrade Peng Xuefeng, led his troops eastward, arrived in Hongze Lake and established the anti-Japanese base area in the Jiangsu-Anhui border region. In June, initiated by Comrade Peng Xuefeng, he studied with the leaders of the border region such as Liu Zijiu, Liu Ruilong and Liu Yuzhu, and submitted it to the head of the Military Commission for approval. He decided to establish Anyan Ankang University in the Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region to train military and political cadres urgently needed in all aspects for the New Fourth Army and the base areas.

194 1 In July, the Council of Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region officially named the new school "Huaibei Public Middle School in Huaibei Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region", which was directly under the jurisdiction of the border government. The daily necessities of teachers and students are distributed by the government. Nominated by Comrade Peng Xuefeng, Mr. Zhang was appointed as a member of the administrative office of Huaibei Border Region and the principal of Huaibei Middle School (Zhang graduated from the Chinese Department of Peking University, and Song Xiaocun, the favorite pupil of the great educator Tao Xingzhi, was appointed as the vice president. Since then, the leaders of the border region,, presided over a special meeting on the preparation of Huaibei Middle School, mobilized elite forces from the army and localities to enrich the teaching force, and established the Huaibei Middle School General Branch Committee under the direct leadership of the Huaibei North Party Committee. Xu was appointed as the first general branch secretary (Huaibei Middle School Party Committee was established in the autumn of 1944, with Yin Xizhen as the deputy secretary to preside over the daily work of the Party Committee), and the cavalry regiment of the Fourth Division was arranged to defend Huaibei Middle School. Under the careful financing and arrangement of Huaibei District Committee and Administrative Office.

"The history of running Huaibei Middle School is an important part of the struggle history of Huaibei Anti-Japanese Base Area". Its school-running goal is to "extensively absorb young intellectuals from all walks of life and train them into cadres on all fronts of the party, government and army." In the four years of the Anti-Japanese War alone, Huaibei Middle School has successively trained and transported more than 2,000 cadres for all fronts of the party, government and army in Huaibei, and at that time "made a historic contribution to the consolidation and development of the anti-Japanese democratic base areas in Huaibei". This large number of students in Huaibei Middle School have stood the test in the long-term revolutionary struggle. Many comrades have held important leadership positions and become middle and senior cadres of our party. Although this is not entirely due to Huaibei Middle School, as many students themselves said, Huaibei Middle School is a first step and a decisive step. These include Jiang Guanghua (former deputy director of the International Liaison Department), General Wang Yunfu (former propaganda minister of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army), General Tao Shibin (commander of the command brigade of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army), General Yan (former deputy commander of the Shanghai base of the People's Navy), General Hong Ronghua (deputy chief of staff of the Nanchang Military Region), General Pan Daoyan (former secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts), General Tao Shibin (famous film artist) and Sun Shimian. Chen Guo (former deputy director of the Political Department of the Academy of Military Sciences) and Shu Gao (secretary of Fuyang prefectural party committee) all grew up in this revolutionary team. More than forty teachers and students, including Wang Shao, Li Zongbai, Hu Jian, Song Ping and Zhang Keying, fought bloody battles and died heroically. In 2002, the film crew of "The New Fourth Army" presented by CCTV at the 16th National Congress made a special trip to the school to shoot an album.

In April 2009, the school was approved as a "four-star ordinary high school" by the Education Department of Jiangsu Province.
