According to legend, Li Qingzhao, a poetess in the Southern Song Dynasty, was crowned as the champion of the time. Although her words were beautiful, they were unlucky. She is congenial to her husband, Zhao Mingcheng, and they both like calligraphy. They are a pair of immortals. However, due to the untimely birth, the Northern Song Dynasty perished, the nomadic people went south, and the husband and wife were forced to drift from place to place. As a result, Zhao Mingcheng died unfortunately and Li Qingzhao became a widow. Some people admire her talent and looks and keep proposing marriage.
But Li Qingzhao has made up her mind and has no intention of remarrying. So she posted half a couplet outside the door, claiming that only someone can write couplets can she commit herself. The first couplet has only seven words: widowed. The meaning of couplets is plain and straightforward, but it is difficult to cover all seven words with one treasure, and it is natural, appropriate and fluent, without any feeling of making things up and demanding. Many scholars have come to try their hand, either the literal side is correct, but it is difficult to understand, or the content is opposite, but the literal is not neat. It has become an eternal absolute.
Coincidentally, there were similar couplets in the Ming Dynasty, but they were a perfect match. During the Apocalypse, Ye, a great scholar in the Ming Dynasty, went to Fujian on a business trip and stayed at the home of Weng, a new local champion. The two men talked by candlelight, full of interest. Weng Zheng Chun, known as a gifted scholar, suggested using couplets for entertainment. He made a couplet: spoil Sue, poor window lonely. It means that the emperor's favorite minister lives in my house, but the conditions at home are simple. Ye immediately said to him, "The guest officer lives in the palace, and the rich room is tolerant. I live here as a tourist and the reception conditions are already very good. The top and bottom are covered with treasure covers, and the lower part is a bit inferior, but in the end it is not satisfactory.
Jie Jin, a scholar in Ming Dynasty, is like a lake and sea full of articles. His poems, songs, calligraphy and painting are all exquisite, and he is known as the first gifted scholar in the Ming Dynasty, which is highly valued by the emperor. But sometimes he is stumped. It is said that one day Jie Jin went out on a long trip and came to Santasi in Anhui. The long-awaited name of the monk mentioned that his predecessors left a couplet in Santa Temple, and no one can correct it so far. The first three pagodas, pagodas, pagodas and pagodas are connected with the three pagodas temple. Jie Jin blurted out: Five floors behind Wutai Mountain, Taiwan Province, Taiwan Province and Taiwan Province. After that, I felt uncomfortable, because there was the word "three" in front of the first couplet, and then there were three towers echoing each other. There is a "five" in front of his couplet and only three words behind it, which is inconsistent. So candidly admit defeat.
In the Republic of China, Mr. Zhongshan died of illness and was buried in Zhongshan, Nanjing. At that time, someone made a couplet, which was aimed at the whole country. As a result, no one has been right so far. The first part is: before Zhongshan, after Zhongshan, before and after Zhongshan was buried. It means Xu Da, the king of Zhongshan in the Ming Dynasty, and then Mr. Zhongshan in the Republic of China. Both of them are buried in Zhongshan. Many people are eager to try, but they all end in failure, which is not as good as the natural effect of the first part.
