China University Student Person of the Year is an excellent university student selection activity jointly sponsored by People's Daily and university magazine under the guidance of the Ideological and Political Work Department of the Ministry of Education, the Central School Department of the Communist Youth League and the Education and Culture Department of People's Daily. Focusing on the fundamental task of educating people, this selection activity is an annual China university student character selection activity, which actively cultivates and practices socialist core values, deeply digs and publicizes and commends advanced models of college students, makes great efforts to show the spiritual outlook of contemporary college students, gives full play to the demonstration and leading role of advanced models, and creates a good environment for promoting the healthy growth of college students in the whole society. Since 2006, this selection activity has been carried out for nine times. At present, the selection activities are guided by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and People's Daily.
