The Historical Evolution of Sun Yat-sen University
1925 Sun Yat-sen passed away. In order to feel his lifelong dedication to the country and permanently commemorate the great achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the National Guangdong University was officially renamed as "National" Sun Yat-sen University on 1926, and a new campus was established in Shipai, Guangzhou (now Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong). After the Kuomintang authorities moved to Taiwan Province Province, in response to the social demand for higher education, the preparatory office of National Sun Yat-sen University was established in Xiziwan, a famous tourist attraction in Kaohsiung City, on 1979, and the school was officially established in July 1980, with Sun Yat-sen's birthday as the celebration day.
