Yunnan University:

Yunnan University, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in western China. It is one of the first batch of 42 world-class universities in China and a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Yunnan Province.

Yunnan University was founded in 1922 as a private Donglu University, 1934 changed its name to provincial Yunnan University, and 1938 changed its name to national Yunnan University. It is one of the earliest comprehensive universities in the western frontier of China. 1946, Encyclopedia Britannica listed Yunnan University as one of the most influential universities in the world in 15.

Kunming University of Science and Technology:

Kunming University of Science and Technology, located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is a comprehensive key university in Yunnan Province. Established by the Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the People's Government of Yunnan Province, it has been selected into the Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities, the National Postgraduate Program for Building High-level Universities, the Education and Training Program for Outstanding Engineers of the Ministry of Education, and the scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for overseas students in China.

The school was formed by the merger of the former Kunming University of Science and Technology and the former Yunnan University of Technology. Kunming University of Science and Technology was founded in 1954 and renamed Kunming University of Science and Technology in 1995. Yunnan University of Technology was founded in 1974 as Yunnan Institute of Technology, and 1994 was renamed Yunnan University of Technology. The historical starting point can be traced back to the second year of Xuantong in Qing Dynasty (19 10).
