Sun Yat-sen University East Campus Library is a branch of Sun Yat-sen University Library, which is located in the center of the north-south main axis of the university town. It is the landmark building of the East Campus. Together with the administrative center and the public teaching building in the north, it is a complete building complex, which was officially put into use on June 8, 2004. The first floor is the exhibition hall, network center and ancillary buildings. The second floor is the main entrance, service desk and information center; The 3rd-6th floors are the service area for books and periodicals and the seminar room, with a total construction area of 35,935 square meters. From the appearance, the East Campus Library is low in the south and high in the north, with great momentum. The two sides of the north facade of the library naturally open, like a book, spreading its wings and soaring. A fan-shaped square is naturally formed in the middle, followed by the main entrance, and the gantry is five stories high, with an open pattern. The east and west facades are portal-shaped, and the inclined windows have shading effect, which is very rhythmic. The south facade is also portal-shaped, with a local bulge in the middle, resulting in a strong contrast between reality and reality. Combining the contrast between stone and metal materials can not only reflect the cultural heritage of Sun Yat-sen University, but also have a modern atmosphere.

The design and concept of the East Campus Library of Sun Yat-sen University has the architectural characteristics of the world's advanced libraries, and adopts the design of full central air conditioning, full sealing, uniform load, large space and transparency. Select the most advanced international 3M anti-theft monitoring system, self-service book returning system and copying equipment, and have advanced computer and other technical equipment; Modern management mode integrating collection, lending, reading and internet. By the end of 20 12, the East Campus Library had more than ten thousand volumes of Chinese and foreign books 165438+, more than two kinds of periodicals100 and more than fifty kinds of newspapers 150. The library has five floors, namely: the first floor is the Law Library and the Supercomputing Guangzhou Center; The second floor is a multimedia electronic reading, current affairs newspaper and reference book reading service area; The third floor is the book circulation and reading service area, which provides teachers and students with various forms of high-quality services such as borrowing, reference service, network database retrieval, copying service, ghostwriting inspection, user training, original text ordering, interlibrary loan, international online retrieval, teaching reference books, sci-tech novelty retrieval and topic selection service. The fourth floor is the back issue reading area; Books donated by the Happy Library of Harvard University are on the fifth floor of the library.

The East Campus Library has more than 30 staff members and consists of two departments: the curator's office and the reader service department.

The first floor of the East Campus Library is also the location of the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center. According to Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou165438+1October 20th (Wang Wowen, Yu Dongyang), the "Tianhe II" supercomputer system developed by National University of Defense Technology officially settled in the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center. As the business host of this center, "Tianhe II" was officially put into operation on the 20th.

China National Supercomputing Center has four national supercomputing centers: Tianjin National Supercomputing Center, Shenzhen National Supercomputing Center, Jinan National Supercomputing Center and Changsha National Supercomputing Center. The awarded Guangzhou National Supercomputing Center is the fifth national supercomputing center and will become a world-class supercomputing center integrating high-performance computing, massive data processing and information management services. It will provide a powerful engine for the economic and social development of Guangzhou, Guangdong and even China, and will be widely used in advanced manufacturing industries such as automobiles, ships and major equipment, as well as the development of a new generation of strategic emerging industries such as information technology, industrial design, online games and animation, life and health, and biomedicine. At the same time, it will also be applied to the field of smart city construction and scientific research, which is of great significance to promoting the national informatization construction.
