Sichuan Normal University (SICNU) is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, a land of abundance. He has been selected as one of the national key universities in the "Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities", a high-level university in the "Double First-class" construction plan of Sichuan Province, and the "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan of Sichuan Province". It is a key university with the earliest undergraduate normal education and the longest running history in Sichuan Normal University, and has the qualification of graduate school and recommended graduate students without examination.

The school was founded in 1946, and its birth has a direct historical origin with Northeastern University. At the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang, where teachers and students from Liuchuan founded the North Sichuan College of Agriculture and Industry. 1949, Xishan College was absorbed and renamed as North Sichuan University; 1950 merged with North Sichuan College of Literature and moved to Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.

1952 Sichuan Normal University was established with North Sichuan University as the main body, and some majors of East Sichuan Institute of Education (Rural Construction College), Sichuan University and West China University were merged. 1964 The former Chengdu University (now Southwestern University of Finance and Economics) was merged into the school. 1985, approved by the State Education Commission, was renamed Sichuan Normal University. 1999, Chengdu Coal Cadre Management College of the former Ministry of Coal was merged into the school.
