Dongguan Middle School was originally run by the people. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), Xu Kui wrote The Origin of the Establishment of Dongguan Middle School, in which the process of the establishment of Dongguan Middle School was described in detail: in the 28th year of Guangxu (1902), when Dongguan Middle School was founded, there was no "money" (clearing money), and Liu Deheng, the magistrate of Dongguan, donated silver 1200 liang. In addition, the county has designated slaughter tax and temple fresh fish tax, and Dongguan Mingluntang allocates 320 taels of silver as recurrent expenses every year. The heir was ordered to change to Dongguan Junior Normal School and issue articles of association. Teachers in all subjects have to be hired, but the tuition is too short to support. In the imperial edict of the twenty-seventh year of Guangxu (190 1), the textbooks of designated schools were "Four Books and Five Classics, emphasizing justice and reason, supplemented by historical lessons of past dynasties, politics and art at home and abroad." At that time, the decline of the Qing Dynasty, especially Guangdong, was influenced by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao (geography teacher Zhang Boling was Liang Qichao's first student) and also by Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary thought. In addition, Xu Kui, the school supervisor, is more open-minded, and the textbooks of Dongguan County schools have not followed the "imperial edict". The Chinese textbook adopts 1902 Xinmin Cong Bao edited by Liang Qichao, and the geography textbook adopts New Geography in Xinmin Cong Bao.
