Start with the blue world.
-Interview with Zhong De, a young ink painter born in 1980s.
For him, ink painting is always a mystery.
In his ink paintings, the recurring "blue" is always concerned by everyone. What does the ocean represent? What does this old house stand for? What does the moon represent? He believes that those so-called representatives, he does not count. Because ink painting itself is a mystery. He is obsessed with using ink painting itself to express his ideas. After a long period of creative exploration, his series of works "Ocean and Architecture" expressed such a realm, which aroused widespread concern in the art world. He is the young ink painter Zhong De.
Walking into Zhong De's studio next to the Bird's Nest is like walking into his paintings. Blue carpet, light blue curtains, dark blue sheets, a series of blue ink paintings, and, of course, a young man, Zhong De, is creating before drawing paper. Different from the blue marine landscape animals or the vicissitudes of the old house in the painting, Zhong De's white face always has a calm and free and easy expression. When ink painting presents a variety of creative styles and contents, Zhong De judges that all kinds of information should be deleted with a peaceful mind and insists on his own creative concept and schema. Faced with the analysis and interpretation of critics and audiences, Zhong De was noncommittal. He respects the vision of every audience, even everyone's different opinions. He said: "once the work is out of the studio, it can't be explained by itself. If they explain one by one, it will be boring. "
Spiritual Exploration of Post-80s Generation
The post-80s generation is in the early stage of China's reform and opening up, but this process is accompanied by social competition and the materialization of self-spirit. It is full of extensive power of progress, novel and imaginative, which makes this generation fall into a state of self-contradiction and hesitation that the previous generation never had at the beginning of adolescence.
Some time ago, Zhong De wrote an article "Where is Dad going? -Exploring the living conditions of China's post-80s ink painters. This article has attracted extensive attention from academic media. He said at the beginning: "Ink and wash, parents are playing, and children want to play, which is really fun! However, if we have to label it "ginger is still old and spicy" and give it a hard ball, then these children will have to chew "Where's Dad?" . On the question of whether the value of the current painter's works is "old and spicy" or "fresh and tender", he elaborated: "China society itself lacks the interpretation of China's contemporary ink painting, and even misreads the essence of traditional ink painting and contemporary ink painting, which is related to the fact that contemporary ink painting has always been on the edge of China art, and it is also an important reason why contemporary ink painting creation groups lack the' post-80s'. However, solving this problem cannot be accomplished unilaterally, but needs the attention of social education, academic support, market guidance and curator's attention. Did the ink painters in the 1980s attract attention? Paying attention to the current social state directly affects the extension of contemporary ink painting in China. We should not marginalize or ignore the lack of the new generation, and combine the new styles created by different times to form the development and prosperity scene of the main force of contemporary ink painting and the new generation compound in China. This is the significance and responsibility of' post-80s' for contemporary ink painting in China. "
Zhong De just stepped on the line of "self-contradiction and hesitation that has never happened before", and he practiced it with his own works. From his works, it is not difficult to see that the quiet and secret colors of "blue, black and yellow" in the picture are felt, and each color is pure to the extreme; He abandoned the virtual self-portraits, restless dolls, popular cartoons and other elements popular in post-80s painters' works, and found a new way. He chose the silent ocean, sail shadows, flickering fishing fires, vicissitudes of houses and vigorous pines and cypresses as his creative themes, which was more in line with his spiritual destination. It is from his strong sense of history and cultural temperament that he calmly found his own speculative position on this era.
Build from blue.
Although he is picturesque, his personality is probably so melancholy and quiet. Born in Guangxi Beibu Gulf, he was influenced by marine culture since childhood, which gave birth to his marine character of accepting tolerance, exploring and innovating. Zhong De has a special liking for the marine folk art in Beibu Gulf. Although it was a coincidence, he chose to create a unique regional ocean, and his strong marine national characteristics undoubtedly matched his inner recognition of the deep consciousness of marine culture. He said: "The quiet coastline on rice paper makes me feel a kind of life, which is not only the physiological characteristics of the region itself, but also a feeling. This feeling comes from the inherent cultural life of the people with obvious regional characteristics and spiritual outlook, and has a strong local flavor."
Zhong De chose this blue world, trying to break the boundary between time and space with a brush, and describing what he saw and thought with rich and passionate pen and ink. In these emotional and interesting artistic worlds, the painter did not pursue a coherent narrative process in sound, but analyzed and expressed it in a leap-forward and cross-time way, divorced from the typicality of the scenery, diluted the objective factors and traces, and strengthened the symbolic significance. Some of the themes expressed by the author are concentrated and speculative, full of some procedural philosophical meanings and Zen machines. In the painting "Factory for Building Aircraft Carrier", the author first arranges the lines composed of dense scaffolding, workers and welding sparks in disorder on the left side of the picture; Crowded workspace and complex building structure inevitably make people feel anxious, but he managed to resolve this contradiction, designed several sky-blue blocks over the huge aircraft carrier, and designed a large area of blank space on the right side of the picture, skillfully using the contrast of points, lines and planes to ease the whole picture, thus creating a harmonious atmosphere. The author strongly conveys a dialectical relationship between marine environment and human beings, namely contradiction and unity, and reflects on the current relationship between human beings and the ocean with a realistic attitude. And more paintings are warm and restrained, such as "Missing the Harbor" and "It's time to go home". We can naturally read the painter's deep attachment to his hometown from the picture.
The space between the ocean and the building * * *
Zhong De's paintings are brand-new and have a unique voice. Zhong De boldly draws lessons from the influence of foreign art, actively innovates the formal language of pictures, draws inspiration from traditional, folk and western modernity, dispels the modern concept system in the form of Chinese painting, and pursues a cultural metaphor with tangible and intangible, mysterious and straightforward aesthetic implications. From this perspective, we can see Zhong De's thinking track from ocean series to China ancient residential series, and his profound understanding of China traditional culture. Not only that, Zhong De has properly integrated the contemporary aesthetic consciousness on the basis of traditional ancient residential aesthetics. He effectively learned from the aspects of design form, expression technique and language, successfully got rid of the problem of the disconnection between language and thinking, realized the transformation of personalized language, and formed personalized language style and schema. Among his works, House under the Moon is an important masterpiece of Zhong De's housing series. It is difficult for us to see the phenomenon of "aphasia" caused by improper use of language in painting, and we can't see the signs of "production". The "writing" flavor of Chinese painting is still very strong. The crescent moon bends in the blue sky, and several strong white lights lead us to the magnificent tile roof. They don't rely on the single shape change of the ancient building plane, but draw a series of building tops as a sequence to highlight the rich space, and the artistic conception will naturally fluctuate from low to high, and then from high to low. The pattern of architecture has also changed from small to large, and then from large to small, and the residential plane sequence in the traditional schema has been broken. Then from the near and far blue ochre yellow blue, the artistic conception is more deeply expressed. Zhong De combines freehand brushwork ink painting art with rigorous architectural perspective art perfectly, expresses his inner passion without sticking to eastern and western art forms, presents the beauty of nature and poetic artistic conception, and is unique among China ink painters. This work was evaluated by the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, selected as an important national gift for foreign work and exchange, and presented to foreign party and government leaders. It played an active role in foreign exchanges, made important contributions to promoting Chinese and foreign political parties and cultural exchanges, and was well received by foreign guests.
Appreciate his ink painting "Spring Turn" and decorate it with layers of red couplets. The courtyard is as deep as the bell of a distant temple, echoing in the air. The blue harbor, boat shadow and dancing branches in the painting come into view from top to bottom. The artistic image is changing and changing, and the feelings and artistic conception are budding and gradually deepening. The author always uses the image in the picture to influence the viewer's line of sight, stimulate the viewer's interest and attract people step by step. The basic orientation of China's culture-the beauty of neutralization, and the independent thinking between marine ecology and human living space can also be naturally revealed in his works. This may be due to the painter's conscious pursuit of cultural realm and cultural value in the exploration of Chinese painting.
An important representative of "post-80s" ink painters.
On July 30th, 20 1 1, the special auction of Ruiping International China calligraphy and painting fidelity was grandly started in beijing asia hotel. More than 100 works by famous artists such as Cui Ruzhuo, Han Meilin, Fan Ceng, Liu Wenxi, Xu Xi, Wang Chengxi, Yu Zhixue, john young, Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, Wu Zuoren and Fu Baoshi were exhibited in this auction. The total turnover of this auction was 38.72 million yuan, with a turnover rate of 99%. Among them, Zhong De sold the work "Haitian Quotations" by the youngest artist at a high price.
It is no accident that Zhong De's Quotations of Flowers on the Sea won the first prize in this auction. According to Mr. Lin, a Singaporean collector who photographed this painting on the spot, it is just the right time to collect modern and contemporary paintings in China, and it is a science to select valuable works among many works. The most important thing is the uniqueness and significance of the work. Zhong De's Quotations from the Sea, a young painter with great development potential, is the best choice in his mind. This time he came to the auction, and he also saw Zhong De's choice. From this auction, it is not difficult to see the great environmental demand of painting and calligraphy collection. What the calligraphy and painting collection market needs more is works with soul like Zhong De, which can highlight the unique charm of individuals. This also shows us the great prospect of collecting new ink paintings by young painters with potential.
When the art market gradually returns to rationality after filtering out the bustling bubbles, the painter's knowledge literacy has increasingly become an important benchmark to measure the value of artistic works. This is particularly evident in the development of young painters after 1980s. Critics interpret Zhong De's works in this way: he combines region, ocean, history, culture, memory with reality, ideal with thinking, and shows the ecology of ocean and people. The expression of contemporary ink painting, mysterious and solemn picture atmosphere, organic picture characteristics and complex and profound ideological mood have become his unique artistic temperament. To some extent, his art is related to the cultural roots in his subconscious growing memory and the collision thinking in contemporary reality, trying to seek the deep thinking of contemporary people on regional culture and psychological level. He pays attention to the purity of painting, is better at absorbing the essence of art, and dares to face up to social problems. His unique style, creative ideas, creative ideas and forms of expression are maturing. Undoubtedly, Zhong De is one of the important representatives in the development of "post-80s" ink painters, and we expect him to perform better in future artistic creation.
