The setting of these schools in the Western Zhou Dynasty was so extensive, and the order and content of teaching methods were so detailed and clear. The contents taught were all personal experiences, lessons and experiences, and they did not require learning knowledge other than the rules of daily life and ethics. Because of this, at that time, these learners didn't understand what their duties should be and what they shouldn't be, so everyone buried themselves in their efforts to do their own things well. During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the Zhou royal family declined and gradually lost control of the princes. Although the vassal was a vassal of the Zhou royal family, he was a monarch in his own territory and had independent power in personnel, finance and military affairs. As a result, after some princes became powerful, they no longer obeyed the orders of the Zhou royal family, and the "etiquette" of maintaining the feudal patriarchal hierarchy was greatly destroyed, and the princes competed for hegemony and social unrest.
The profound crisis caused by irreconcilable contradictions within society has shaken the authority of traditional culture, and the spirit of suspicion and criticism of traditional culture is increasing day by day. The teaching system of the above-mentioned schools cannot be implemented, education changes with the world, and customs are decadent.
In this era, Confucius set up his own private school, imitated the methods of the former king, recruited his disciples to study poetry, books and historical documents, and taught Wang Zhidao to his disciples. There are more than 3,000 students of Confucius, including a disciple named Zeng Shen, who knows the true meaning. He wrote Confucius' explanation in a book called "University" as the essence of the lecture, and on this basis, he developed and explained it and spread it around the world.
