Shanxi Medical University, formerly known as Shanxi Medical College, was founded in August of 19 19. 192 1 August, changed to Shanxi Medical College. /kloc-0 changed its name to Shanxi medical college in August, 928. 1932 1 month, and was established as a private Shanxi Chuanzhi Medical College.

1940 was merged into Shanxi University in March, and it was called Medical Department of Shanxi University. 1August, 946, upgraded to the National Medical Hall of Shanxi University. 1September 1953, the school was established independently and renamed Shanxi Medical College. /kloc-0 changed its name to Shanxi medical university in September, 1996.

As of June, 2022, the school has three campuses, namely Chanz, Yingze and Zhongdu, with a total area of 1.422 mu (including Jinzhong New Campus1.654,38.6 mu) and a construction area of 7 1.000 square meters.

There are 33 teaching institutions, 5 directly affiliated hospitals/kloc-0, 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 35 teaching hospitals, 22 other teaching bases/kloc-0, 5 postgraduate training bases/kloc-0, 2 scientific research bases and 32 undergraduate majors.

There are 4 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 6 doctoral degree authorization points in the first-level discipline, 2 doctoral degree authorization points, 1 master degree authorization point 10, and 8 master degree authorization points;

There are more than 7,000 faculty members, more than 2,000 graduate tutors, more than 2,200 clinical teachers and 2 1745 full-time students, including undergraduates14,943, 5,748 master students, 509 doctoral students and 545 international students.
