The faculty of arts has 104 faculty members, including 77 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, there are 4 professors 1 person and 7 associate professors1person, including 2 senior professors in humanities and social sciences of Wuhan University, 5 talents in the new century from the Ministry of Education, 2 "chief experts in horse engineering" from the Ministry of Education, and1person as a national teaching master. The College has jurisdiction over China Literature Department, China Language and Culture Department, Research Institute of Ancient Books Arrangement, Changjiang Academic Magazine, Writing Magazine, College Party and Government Office, Comprehensive Resource Center, Wuhan University China Language and Literature Practice Teaching Center, Wuhan University Putonghua Training and Testing Workstation and other institutions.

The college has the right to award doctoral degrees in the first-class discipline of language and literature in China and a postdoctoral mobile station. National key discipline (modern and contemporary literature in China) 1, national key training discipline (ancient literature in China) 1, China language and literature as the key discipline in Hubei province, China modern and contemporary literature as the dominant discipline in Hubei province, and China ancient literature as the characteristic discipline in Hubei province. The doctoral and master's programs in the two disciplines include literature and art, linguistics and applied linguistics, Chinese philology, China classical philology, China ancient literature, China modern and contemporary literature, comparative literature and world literature, writing, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and master's degree in Chinese international education. Undergraduate majors include China Language and Literature (Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese International Education). Among them, Chinese language and literature is a national specialty and a brand specialty in Hubei Province. In addition, the college also cooperated with the University of Pittsburgh to establish the Confucius Institute in Pennsylvania, USA.

The college has the Institute of Ancient Books Arrangement under the direct guidance of the National Research Committee of Ancient Books Arrangement in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education. It also has the research base of China Language and Social Development Research Center of the State Language Commission, Hubei Language and Intelligent Information Processing Research Base of the key research base of humanities and social sciences, Hubei Modern Humanities Resources Investigation and Research Center, the national key research base of humanities and social sciences in cooperation with the School of History and the School of Philosophy, and the Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center in cooperation with the School of History and other units.
