Southwest University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, which was approved by the Ministry of Education of China in July 2005 and merged from the former Southwest Normal University and the former Southwest Agricultural University. It is the first batch of double first-class universities in China, 2 1 1 Engineering Construction School and 985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project Construction University, and it is a high-level comprehensive university with a layout in the central and western regions of China. History of school relocation:

19501June 12, with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the Central People's Government, the former National Women's Teachers College merged with Sichuan Education College to form the former Southwest Teachers College. However, the former site of Sichuan Institute of Education is too narrow and adjacent to Ciqikou Town Street, so there is no room for development. So the Southwest Ministry of Culture and Education decided to open another venue opposite Chongqing University in Shapingba.
