He has been the convener of the evaluation group of pharmacy discipline of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, a member of the medical expert group of the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, and the head of Chinese medicine discipline of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. At present, in addition to continuing to serve as a professor in the teaching and research section of natural medicinal chemistry of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, he also serves as the director of Shenzhen Research Center for Natural Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the double-hired professor of Tsinghua University, the honorary dean of the School of Pharmacy of Jinan University, the director of the Institute of Natural Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and serves as the vice chairman of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Society, the evaluation member of the National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, the member of the medical expert group of the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, and the vice chairman of the Liaoning Association for Science and Technology.

1996 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering.
