The law discipline of Southeast University originated from 1928 Central University Law School, with a long history and profound cultural background. Han Zhongmo, Qian Duansheng, Yang Zhaolong, Mei Zhongxie, Shi Shangkuan, Fan Xinxiang and Han Depei. A famous figure in academia and politics, he once worked or studied in the Law School of Central University and created the glory of Southeast Law for decades. 1995 southeast university resumed its law major and established the law department. in 2006, it resumed the establishment of the law school, with professor Zhou as the first president and professor as the current president.

At present, the college has four traditional disciplines with obvious advantages: Constitution and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Jurisprudence and Human Rights Law, and Civil and Commercial Law. The interdisciplinary directions of "medical law" and "engineering law" established by the cross-integration of law and science, engineering and medicine, and integrated innovation were included in the key support of the school's "985". As a major interdisciplinary research project of the National Social Science Fund, "Research on the System Platform and Legal Guarantee Mechanism of Modern Urban Traffic Development" involves the deep integration of disciplines such as law, traffic engineering, urban planning, civil engineering and management, and creates an innovative platform of "interdisciplinary research, interdisciplinary construction and compound talent training".

The talent training system is complete, showing the distinctive characteristics of "cross-cutting, teamwork and practicality". The law school has now formed a multi-level talent training system with four parts: undergraduate, master, master and doctor.
