Guizhou Medical University was founded in 1938, formerly known as Guiyang National Medical College, and was one of the nine medical colleges directly under the Ministry of Education at that time. 1950 was placed under the management of Guizhou Provincial People's Government and renamed Guiyang Medical College. It is one of the universities in the central and western regions that implement the basic capacity-building project, the only unit in Guizhou Province that awards medical doctorates, and the pilot university of "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program". 20 15 officially changed its name to Guizhou Medical University.
