Guangxi Normal University is located in Guilin, a world-famous landscape tourist city. It is a first-class domestic similar university determined by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and supported by Guangxi. It has been selected into the National High-level Postgraduate Construction Project, the Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities, the "National Training Plan" and "Excellent Teacher Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, Jingjiang Wangcheng Scenic Area, a national 5A-level scenic spot, and the earliest cultural and educational center in Guangxi history. It is a comprehensive provincial key university.

The school can be traced back to the provincial Guangxi University founded by 1928 and the Guangxi Provincial Teachers College founded by 1932. 1936 merger of provincial teachers colleges.
