Lin Hao, 1929 10 was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province on February 2. He is an academician of China Academy of Sciences, an expert in hydraulic engineering and earthquake engineering, and a professor at Dalian University of Technology.

Lin Hao has been engaged in teaching and research in the field of hydraulic structural engineering for a long time, and has made important contributions to the development of the discipline in terms of dam seismic theory and model test technology, underground structure seismic analysis, and theoretical research on dynamic fracture technology of concrete structures. Representative works include "arch-beam modal method" for dynamic and static analysis of complex shells such as arch dams, calculation method of dynamic interaction between dams and foundations, dynamic model failure test simulation technology for seismic safety evaluation of dams and nuclear power plants, and influence of loading history on multiaxial strength and damage characteristics of concrete materials.

Since 1950s, he has been engaged in the in-depth study of dams and other engineering buildings, vibration fluctuation, dynamic fracture of concrete structures and seismic design methods of engineering buildings. It has played an important role in solving key technical problems of dams, seaports, nuclear power plants and other projects.

Lin Hao has established cooperative research and academic exchanges with professors from Tokyo University, Wonsan University and new york State University. He has been responsible for the research and test of seismic safety evaluation of more than ten large-scale concrete dam projects, earth-rock dam projects, harbor wharf projects and nuclear power plant construction projects in China, and participated in the compilation of seismic design specifications for hydraulic structures and nuclear power plants in China. After teaching for 60 years, Lin Hao has always adhered to the creed of "teaching by example is more important than teaching by words" and "paying equal attention to love, guidance and encouragement".
