Northwest University for Nationalities, referred to as Northwest University for Nationalities, is located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. It is a full-time undergraduate college directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, which is jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, China Academy of Sciences and Gansu Provincial People's Government.
It is the first university for nationalities founded after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is the backbone plan of ethnic minorities, the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of the national education and training plan for outstanding talents in agriculture and forestry, the construction unit of high-level universities in Gansu Province, the member unit of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance and the governing unit of China Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of UNESCO.
As of September 2022, the school has Northwest Xincun Campus and Yuzhong Campus, with a total campus area of 1776 mu and a total construction area of 770,000 square meters. The library has more than 4.06 million books (including e-books), and the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is about 500 million yuan.
There are 25 teaching and research units and 72 undergraduate majors; Post-Doctoral Research Center 1 one, 2 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 3 first-level disciplines authorized by two disciplines, 1 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degrees 16, two disciplines master's degrees 10, 2 interdisciplinary disciplines authorized by master's degrees, and master's degree authorized categories 13. There are more than 30,000 teachers and students.
