Islamabad International Islamic University was founded in 1980,165438+1October, 1 1 [the first day of the 5th century AD]. Received funding from Saudi Arabia and the Islamic World League. Completed in 1985, the school runs independently and is not affiliated to the Ministry of Education of Pakistan. Its authority is the Supreme Council, which consists of 17 people. The President of Pakistan and the Secretary-General of the Islamic World League serve as its chairman and vice-chairman respectively. In addition to seven Pakistanis, other members are presidents of Mecca University, Riyadh University, Cairo University, Azhar University, Malaysian and Medina International Islamic Universities, and heads of international Islamic UNESCO funds in Kuwait and Morocco.

Although Pakistan International Islamic University is an Islamic university, its education system is still influenced by the British education model. Since the name change of 1985, Pakistan International Islamic University has adopted the western credit system and followed the Islamic system of "teaching without distinction and academic freedom".
