The UniversityofBirmingham, referred to as "Boda", was founded in 1825. It is located in Birmingham, the second largest city in Britain, one of the top 100 universities in the world and a world-class research university. As the top university in Britain and the first red brick university in Britain, Boda was awarded the Royal Charter by Queen Victoria of Britain in 1900. It is also a core member of Russell University Group, a founding member of the Midland Innovation Alliance and the Global Alliance for Advanced Research in Universities.
1900, Queen Victoria awarded the Royal Charter to Birmingham University, becoming the first red brick university in Britain. Joseph Chamberlain Bell Tower, the school's landmark building, is the tallest independent bell tower in the world at present, which was built in memory of Joseph Chamberlain, the founder of the school.
