Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology; Technology, referred to as "Internal Science and Technology University", located in Baotou, is a first-class discipline construction university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and graduate students are exempt from examination. It has been selected as one of the national "Basic Capacity Building Projects of Midwest Universities", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" and "New Engineering Research and Practice Project".

Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology was founded in 1956. Originally Baotou Iron and Steel Industry School and Baotou Construction Engineering School. 1958 The two universities merged to form Baotou Institute of Technology. 1960 was renamed Baotou iron and steel institute, which was affiliated to the former Ministry of metallurgical industry. 1998 was placed under the management of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and became a university jointly established by the central and local governments.
