Unlike high school, college English words are not thoroughly learned, and many new words will be encountered when doing problems. It's really too slow to look up the dictionary.
If you are not a foreign language major, you don't need to know the meaning of every word thoroughly. If you look it up in an electronic dictionary, you can find the basic usage, but it is not as detailed as the dictionary.
If you are an English major, it is all the more necessary, because you spend most of your time dealing with English, and you can't always carry a thick Oxford dictionary.
I recommend using that stupid dictionary, which has few functions and no games. It costs three or four hundred dollars, but when you buy it, you must see what dictionary it has.
