Shanghai Maritime University is an ordinary undergraduate college. Since it is an undergraduate college, there are certain requirements for students' English scores. Students must pass CET-4 during their four years in college, that is, they can reach 425 points in CET-4.

CET-4 is a national English test hosted by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, which is designed, organized, managed and implemented by the National College English Examination Committee.
