Continuing education in Tsinghua University began in 1950s. 65438-0985 With the approval of the State Education Commission, Tsinghua took the lead in setting up a college of continuing education among universities in China to carry out and co-ordinate the management of continuing education in the whole school.
At the beginning of 2002, the school reformed the system and mechanism of continuing education, positioning it as non-academic and non-degree, and established the continuing education department, which is responsible for exercising administrative functions for non-academic and non-degree continuing education throughout the school. The College of Continuing Education has been transformed into a secondary entity college, specializing in non-academic continuing education.
