This school has a long history. Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is located in the famous historical and cultural city of Hangzhou. The school's predecessor, Silkworm Academy, was founded in 1897 by Qi Lin, the governor of Hangzhou, in order to save the country through industry and education. It is one of the earliest new educational institutions in China.
The school has 18 colleges (teaching and research sections) and 1 independent colleges, with more than 29,200 full-time students, including more than 4,460 graduate students. There are 68 undergraduate majors in the school, including 7 national first-class undergraduate majors in the "Two Million Plan", 8 national (Ministry of Education) majors, 6 pilot majors in the comprehensive reform program of the Ministry of Education 1, 6 pilot majors in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, 3 comprehensive professional reform projects of the Ministry of Education -Autodesk Company, and 65,438 provincial first-class undergraduate majors in the "Two Million Plan". It has 3 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree and 24 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, and can award 16 professional degree categories and 3 post-doctoral research stations. Chemistry ranks in the top 5‰ of ESI global ranking, and materials science and engineering ranks in the top 1% of ESI global ranking.
