The Historical Evolution of Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University
The hospital was formerly the Third Clinical College of Bethune Medical University. Founded in June 1949 1 1, formerly known as "School of Surgery, Changchun Medical University" of China People's Liberation Army. Experienced the Third Clinical College of the Third Military Medical University of PLA, the Third Clinical College of the First Military Medical University of PLA, the Third Clinical College of Jilin Medical University and the Third Clinical College of Bethune Medical University. 1July, 1993, the main body of the hospital moved to the new site of Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone. The new hospital was built by Jilin provincial government and Changchun municipal government, the National Health and Family Planning Commission invested in infrastructure, and the Japanese government provided advanced equipment worth 2.6 billion yen free of charge. To commemorate the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese peoples and governments, the hospital was named the Third Clinical College of Bethune Medical University (China-Japan Friendship Hospital). In June 2000, five universities including Jilin University and Bethune Medical University merged to form a new Jilin University, and the hospital was renamed as "Jilin University China-Japan Friendship Hospital".
