Guizhou minzu university was established in May 2007, and it belongs to the Guizhou Provincial People's Government. It is one of the earliest universities for nationalities founded in New China, a key university in Guizhou Province, a university founded by the people's government of Guizhou Province and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and a university with a scholarship from the China government to train international students in China.

Since its establishment, it has trained a total of 654.38+million talents at all levels, which has provided important talent support for the economic and social development of Guizhou and ethnic areas.

The school has social construction and anti-poverty research institutes, ethnic policy research institutes, Guizhou Ethnic Art Research Institute, Guizhou Mountain Tourism and Ethnic Economy Research Institute, Southwest Yelang Culture Research Institute, Southwest Nuo Culture Research Institute, Shuishu Culture Research Institute, Law Research Institute and Guizhou Ethnic Science Research Institute.
