Qingdao Institute of Technology is a full-time private college approved by the people of China and the Ministry of Education. Formerly known as Qingdao College of China Ocean University, the College was founded in 2005. It is an independent college sponsored by China Ocean University and invested by Qingdao Yilite Detai Science and Education Investment Management Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was transformed into an independent private undergraduate college on 20 1 1 and renamed Qingdao University of Technology.
