Hebei University of Geology, located in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, is one of the five universities directly under the former Ministry of Geology. It is a university jointly established by People's Republic of China (PRC), the Ministry of Natural Resources of China and the People's Government of Hebei Province, a key university in Hebei Province, a first-class university in Hebei Province, a construction unit authorized by doctor's degree, and a governing unit of IULEE.
Li Tingdong, a geologist and academician of China Academy of Sciences, is the honorary president of the school. The school was founded on 1953.
