Xi 'an University of Science and Technology is called Xi 'an University of Science and Technology for short. The history of the school can be traced back to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, School of Engineering, Beiyang University, which was founded in 1895. 1938 moved to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of Northwest Institute of Technology, 1957 merged into Xi Jiaotong University, 1958 independently established Xi 'an Mining Institute from Xi Jiaotong University.
