Guangxi University for Nationalities, founded in 1952, is located at the lakeside of Xiang Si, Nanning, the capital of Guangxi. Approved by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it is a key university in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period.

Guangxi University for Nationalities was founded in 1952. Originally the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities) Guangxi Branch. 1953 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, 1958 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, and in 2006 it was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities.
