The College of Elementary Education was formerly known as East Sichuan Normal School, which was founded in 1906. It has a history of 100 years. It is the first batch of key normal schools to realize the standardization of school conditions. 1977 held a normal class, which was approved by the former state education commission as the first experimental school to train primary school teachers with junior college education, and 1994 was designated as the training center for primary school teachers in Chongqing. In September, 2003, it was merged into Chongqing Normal University and became the second-level college of Chongqing Normal University-Primary Education College.
