Mei Lanfang (1894 ~ 196 1) is a Peking Opera performer. The name is Lan and Zihua. Taizhou, Jiangsu, has lived in Beijing for a long time. Born into a family in Liyuan, he studied drama at the age of 8, took Wu Lingxian as his teacher at the age of 9, and took the stage at the age of1/kloc-0. Gong Qingyi also plays Beijing opera blues. Later, he asked Qin Zhifen and Hu Ergeng to learn from Hua Dan. He also studied Kunqu opera, practiced martial arts and kungfu, and extensively observed Dan Jiao's local dramas and performances of other characters. After long-term stage practice, the singing, recitation, dancing, music, clothing and makeup of Peking Opera have not been created and developed, and they have formed their own artistic style, which is called "Mei School" internationally.

Mei Lanfang's outstanding achievements in art have attracted the attention of foreigners. Before 1949, he performed in Japan, the United States and the Soviet Union, and received honorary doctor of literature from Pomona College and the University of Southern California. Mr. Mei is also a great patriot. During the Anti-Japanese War, he had a beard and a clear head, refused to perform, and made a living by writing and selling paintings. He is the artistic successor of Mei School.
