Attend freshman week
Freshman week at Oxford University refers to the week before the first semester. During this period, the school will hold various social activities and various briefings to help students make new friends, adapt to school life and get familiar with the school environment. We must cherish this rare opportunity and try our best to participate. Arrive at school according to the stipulated time and date, no later than Thursday of the first week. You will receive a timetable in advance, which lists in detail every major event in the week. For example, introduce the school situation to freshmen, teach them how to adapt to school life quickly, hold an annual freshman friendship meeting, communicate and introduce themselves among freshmen, register and visit freshmen, etc.
Understand the time of three semesters.
According to the tradition of Oxford University, a school year is divided into three semesters: Michael Festival in autumn, Hillary Clinton in spring and Trinity $ TERM in summer. Please click here for the specific time of each semester.
These three semesters do not include language courses, orientation week and exams.
Pre-school briefing
For international students, Oxford University also has pre-school briefings. Its purpose is to help students adapt to university life and provide various suggestions and practical help to freshmen in Oxford and university life.
On September 30th, 2065438+00, the pre-conference briefing for graduate students was held, and on October 4th, 2065438+00/kloc-0, the pre-conference briefing for undergraduate students was held.
Police station registration
When you enter the UK, if your passport, visa or immigration stamp on your passport says that you must register with the police station, you must register with the foreigner residence registration certificate at the police station within seven days after you arrive in Oxford.
When registering, you must bring your registration certificate, address certificate, postal code, passport and two photos of the same size as your passport with the official seal of the school. The fee is 34 pounds. If the address changes after registration, report to the police station near your new home within seven days.
Oxford police station is in St. Aldates, passing the main entrance of Christian Church College, go straight 150 meters, and the first T-junction is about 10 meters ahead, on the left.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9: 30 am-4: 40 pm.
Although there is no need to make an appointment in advance, there is a long queue. Registration is just a normal transaction, so there is no need to feel troublesome and worried.
You don't have to go to the police station to register if there is no requirement on your passport and visa.
Passport scanning
On March 3rd, 2009, KLOC-0, Britain implemented the student visa counting system. From now on, to apply for an ordinary student visa in the UK, you need to score below 40 points, of which 30 points are the visa invitation letter issued by the school to prove your study course. This letter should include the study information of the course he applied for, as well as the registration number of the host school, some personal information of the students, course fee information and course level. In addition, the score of 10 means that students need to prove that they have enough funds.
The student visa belongs to the fourth level of the scoring system. For Oxford freshmen who belong to this type of visa and students who want to extend their passports, including visiting students and accredited students, the school will scan a copy of each student's passport. Postgraduates, undergraduates and visiting students are scanned by their colleges.
Go to the bank to open an account and get a bank card.
When you apply for a bank card, the bank needs some written materials to prove your identity. The most important thing is your identification, that is, your passport. You can also provide a letter from the college or PPH office to confirm your student status, and take it to the bank for identification (it lists your addresses in China and Britain, as well as your student status and years of study abroad). In addition to your passport, you need to provide a copy of the bank statement translated into English within three months (including a whole month).
What you need next is proof of your mailing address. If you live on campus, the bank accepts the bill of the student's accommodation fee account as proof, and if you live on campus, you can use a copy of the rental contract.
UKCISA's website has an introduction on how to open an account in a bank.
This is a list of several major banks in Oxford. Please compare yourself and choose a satisfactory bank.
If I stay off campus, how can I be exempt from family tax?
If you have completed the school registration, you can print the registration certificate online to confirm your student status at Oxford University this academic year.
With this certificate, when staying off campus, it can be used as a basis for exempting family tax.
Registration time: before the first weekend of the first semester.
The purpose of registration: studying courses, applying for student loans, using the school's e-mail account, obtaining university cards, testing and querying results, and printing registration certificates.
It is best to complete the registration before you arrive at school, so that you can handle all kinds of affairs as soon as you arrive at school. The college will have a record of whether you have completed the registration or not.
Click on student registration, which is simple and quick.
If you encounter problems, you can ask the student information service center for help, either by email or in person. The PC suite located in the inspection school can provide more help to students.
University card
After the registration is completed, the college or department will issue university cards to students, thus making your study and life more convenient.
With a university card, you can use many facilities and services of the school, such as library inquiry system, computer service facilities, language education center and so on.
In some departments, university cards can even be used as payment cards or key cards to enter some places.
No matter in university or other places on campus, a university card can be used as an identification to prove that you are a student of Oxford University.
Be sure to keep it safe. If you replace it, you need to pay extra.
