Pingdingshan City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of People's Republic of China (PRC) and Henan Province, located in the south-central part of Henan Province. Pingdingshan City is adjacent to Funiu Mountain in the west and Huanghuai Plain in the east. It was named Pingdingshan City because the peaks around the north of the city are flat and flat. In modern times, Pingdingshan, as an important coal producing area in China, became a new energy-based industrial city and an important industrial base of energy and raw materials in China after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
In 2003, Pingdingshan was identified by Henan Province as one of the nine central cities of the Central Plains urban agglomeration. The tourism resources of Pingdingshan mainly include Yaoshan, hot springs, lakes and temples. At the beginning of 2007, Pingdingshan became one of the excellent tourist cities in China.
