Peking University was founded in 1898, formerly known as Shi Jing University Hall, and changed its name to Peking University in 19 12. It is the first national comprehensive university in China's modern history. At the beginning of its establishment, Peking University was not only the highest institution of higher learning in China, but also the highest educational administrative organ in China. The archival work of Peking University has been with Peking University for more than a century. As early as the late Qing Dynasty, there was a copy department in charge of "document archives". In the early years of the Republic of China, the school set up a letter course in the General Affairs Department, which was responsible for drafting and filing documents. From 65438 to 0999, Peking University reformed its management system, and the archives became an independent institution directly under the leadership of the school. It is not only the functional management department of school archives work, but also a scientific and cultural institution that permanently preserves and provides the use of school archives. According to the job functions, it is divided into three offices: collection and guidance, management and utilization, and technical compilation and research. In 2009, there were 13 staff members, of whom 5 had senior titles and 5 had intermediate titles. The perfect archival work organization and the unremitting pursuit of several generations make the archives resources of Peking University Archives very rich, some of which are extremely precious. The articles of association of Shi Jing University Hall were determined, which reflected the records of Mr. Cai Yuanpei's meeting in Peking University, the information of various societies, and the records of teachers and students engaged in teaching and scientific research activities in the three universities of National Southwest Associated University under difficult conditions. By 1952, after adjustment, the department had received all the files of yenching university, as well as the award certificates of Peking University students in teaching and scientific research today, which recorded the student status information of more than 100,000 students from the first batch of graduates in Guangxu thirty-three years to the present, and reproduced the development course of teaching and learning in Peking University in the past hundred years. At present, Peking University Archives has five schools, including Peking University, Southwest Associated University, Peking University occupied by Japanese and Puppet, Beiping University and yenching university, covering ten categories of archives, including party and government, student status, scientific research, infrastructure, people, publishing, accounting, audio-visual, equipment and physical objects, and two categories of archives, namely, deceased data and physical objects. The reconstructed Peking University Archives has created good preservation conditions for the historical archives of Peking University. Peking University Archives attaches great importance to the basic business construction of archives and modern management of archives management. While constantly enriching its collection, archives attach importance to the development of archival information resources and actively provide archival information resources in various ways to serve all sectors of society. Since 2000, special exhibitions have been successfully held, such as "Peking University Archives Collection and Utilization Exhibition", "Revisiting History and Reproducing Brilliance-People and Things Around Students", "Under the Banner of Capitalism-Peking University Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of China Producer Party" and "Commemorating the Birthday of Academician Jiang Zehan100th Anniversary". Archives actively devote themselves to the informatization construction of archives management. Combined with the popularization and application of Peking University Archives Management Information System in the whole school, the archives actively promote the reform of archives collection and arrangement mode based on national standards and combined with the actual situation in Peking University, and make efforts to actively develop archives database and website construction, so as to make archives retrieval and utilization closer to the needs of school development and scientific research assessment of faculty.
