China Ocean University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, featuring marine fisheries, including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine (medicine), economics, management, literature, law, teaching, history, art and other disciplines.

It is one of the national "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project" key construction universities, and it is the first batch of units approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee with the right to award doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees.
