Peking University College of Pharmacy was established in 194 1 as Peking University Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. On this basis, 1943 established the Department of Pharmacy of Peking University Medical College, with the specialties of materia medica and pharmacy. 1952 established the medical college independently, and later renamed the Department of Pharmacy of Beijing Medical College, with three majors: pharmacy, medicinal chemistry and applied chemistry (medicine).
1985 was renamed School of Pharmacy, Beijing Medical University, with three majors: pharmacy, medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. In April 2000, the former Beijing Medical University and Peking University merged to form a new Peking University, which was renamed Peking University Pharmaceutical College.
