School profile

1830 established a special science and technology school for children who lost their parents in the war. In order to take care of these helpless children, the Russian emperor thought that having scientific and technological knowledge could help them make a living. This school is the predecessor of Bowman University of Science and Technology and the oldest and most successful university of science and technology in Russia.

Later, this school became a major engineering university in Russia-Imperial Technical School. 19 17 Russia *, the university was named after Nicola Ernestovich Bowman, a veterinarian and political revolutionary. He died for the revolution in the main building of Bowman University, and his body was parked in the university campus behind him for other revolutionaries and students in Moscow to pay their respects. Because his funeral began in this university, after the great October Revolution in 19 17, the "Royal School of Science and Technology" was renamed as "Moscow Higher Technical School named after Bowman".

School fame and background

Bowman University has been famous for its excellent engineering education since its establishment. Bowman University's unique way of education and training, the so-called Russian engineering training system, has many world-renowned engineers in its long history. Although aviation and national defense technology are not the fields it provides, it has been committed to cutting-edge technology, and most of its departments are related to aerospace technology and national defense industry. Now Russia has greatly improved its tense relations with the United States during the Cold War. Due to the unstable economy of Russia, it has moved towards the goal of space exploration and development under the new trend of international relations. Now Bowman University of Science and Technology in Moscow is trying to provide its graduates with relevant scientific and technological knowledge so that they can easily adapt to various engineering jobs.

geographical position

The school is located in the center of Moscow. 1830, under the special order of Maria Fedoroff, the mother of the Russian emperor, famous architects Dzhilardi and Vital designed the buildings in the university.

course

Bowman University offers thousands of basic and specialized courses in more than 80 professional fields. According to the curriculum of Bowman University, bachelor's degree courses, master's degree courses, engineer's degree courses, doctoral degree courses and pre-university courses are provided. All training courses are in line with international education standards and Russian domestic certification standards, and each degree can be awarded a corresponding certificate. In the first year, college students should devote themselves to general subjects, such as advanced mathematics, general chemistry, physics, history, foreign language courses, concise geography, mechanical design, painting, metal technology, shopping training, theoretical mechanics and physical education courses. Sophomore, junior and senior courses will be more professional and vary according to different departments. For example, in special department of mechanical engineering, there are: stress and strength of materials, mechanics and mechanical principles and machine details. Interchangeability and technical measurement electrical engineering and economics (economics) production technology design (design) computer-aided design (vibration) electronics (technical system control) students can obtain a bachelor's degree (B.S.) after completing four years of college courses. If students are willing to study, they can devote themselves to more professional topics in the next two years, such as space shuttle design, aerodynamics, pointing and navigation system, altitude control system, stress analysis and other in-depth topics. After completing six years of education, students can get a master's degree in related fields. According to the statistics of 1988 special department of mechanical engineering course, during the six-year education, students have experienced 3046 hours of lecture teaching, 1 124 hours of practice, 4 10 hours of experimental class, 2064 hours of classroom teaching, four $ term papers and seven $ term projects. In addition, there is a special degree: one year's education after master's degree can further obtain the "engineer's degree", and there is a three-year doctoral degree (Ph.D) course.

Research teaching

The school began to undergo major changes on 1929, and the five departments originally planned by the school began to develop in five different directions:

Department of mechanical engineering was left as the parent institution of the school, but it was renamed "VMMU"; 1932- 1933, renamed as "Moscow School of Mechanical Machinery Construction (MMMU)"; Finally, the original status of the department was restored in 1937, and the school once again obtained the original name "Moscow Higher Technical School".

At first, the Department of Chemical Engineering was reorganized into the "Higher School of Chemical Technology (VKHTU)", and later became the main body of voroshilov Military Chemistry Institute (VKHA), and later became the current "Anti-chemical Military Institute (VakHz)".

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering has become the core department of Moscow Aeronautical Institute (MAI).

The Department of Electric Power Engineering has become a branch of the School of Electric Power Engineering (Mei).

The Department of Civil Engineering first became the institution of higher learning in architectural engineering (Visu), and later became the military engineering institute (VIA) named after V.V. Kuibyshev, that is, the military engineering institute of Kirbyshev. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the name of the school was finally changed to 1990, which is the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bowman.

Foreign language and preparatory study

For foreign students who lack the Russian required for basic communication skills, they can take specially planned language courses to improve their Russian ability.
