The Institute of History of Science and Technology (Shanxi University) is a specialized scientific research institution established by Shanxi University. Research interests mainly include physics history and philosophy, cultural heritage and local science and technology history, regional economy and science and technology development strategy, etc.

The discipline construction of the history of science and technology in Shanxi University began in the late 1970s, with a group of national famous scholars represented by Zhang Jiazhi, Ouyang Jiang and Xing Runchuan. In 2000, he was granted the right to confer a master's degree in a first-class discipline, and in 2003, he was granted the right to confer a doctorate in a first-class discipline. Since 20 1 1, it has been identified as a key discipline with characteristics in Shanxi Province and a key discipline in Shanxi Province. 20 13 in may, the institute of history of science and technology was formally established, with Gao ce as the first director.

As of May 2020, the Institute has 3 full-time and part-time researchers, 27 doctors, 2 senior titles, 6 professors, 6 associate professors and 5 lecturers. It has two provincial-level innovation platforms: Shanxi University Regional Science and Technology Policy Research Center and Shanxi University Sanjin Culture and Social Transformation Research Center.
