University elective courses can be roughly divided into two categories: public elective courses and professional elective courses. Public elective courses generally require low credits, about 10 credits, and some schools have restrictions on humanities and science and technology courses that contain several credits.

Professional elective courses are generally only provided to students of this major, and most of them are professional courses, with a total credit requirement of more than 20 points, which is an important way to master professional knowledge. The credit requirements of elective courses are generally hard indicators for graduation, and only after completing credits can you qualify for graduation. Tuition in some schools is related to the academic performance of elective courses.

School profile

Southeast University is a university with a long history and deep foundation. Founded in 1902 Sanjiang Normal School, the school has experienced important development periods such as Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University. During the period of 1952, the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted, and the arts and sciences of schools moved out.

Taking the former National Central University Engineering College as the main body, it was merged into relevant departments of Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University, and Nanjing Institute of Technology was established in the original site of National Central University. In May 1988, the school was renamed Southeast University. In April 2000, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Jiaotong University merged.

Nanjing Geology School merged into the new Southeast University.
