Taiyuan University of Technology Archives consists of the former Taiyuan University of Technology Archives and the former Shanxi Institute of Mining and Technology Archives. The archives of Taiyuan University of Technology and Shanxi Institute of Mining and Technology were both established by 1993. 1997, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Shanxi Provincial People's Government, the former Taiyuan University of Technology and the former Shanxi Institute of Mining merged to run a school, and the archives departments of the latter two schools merged to form the archives of Taiyuan University of Technology, which was directly under the departmental level.

Archivists 14, all with bachelor's and master's degrees and senior titles. 1999 school file management passed the second-class national standard acceptance. The archives won the second prize of the compilation of historical materials of the sixth outstanding achievements of archival science in Shanxi Province, the advanced unit of archives work in colleges and universities in Shanxi Province by the Provincial Education Department, and the advanced unit of archives work in colleges and universities.

Archives are divided into four whole schools, namely: Taiyuan University of Technology (1902- present); Shanxi Institute of Mining (1958-1997); College of Materials, Taiyuan University of Technology (1978-1997); The former Shanxi Textile Industry School (1958-2000) has a total volume of about100000. Archives management shall be classified into four categories: key construction, party and mass, administration, teaching, scientific research, products, infrastructure, equipment, publishing, foreign affairs, accounting, personnel, audio-visual and physical objects.
