2. There are about 22,000 kinds and more than 2,000 rare books in the thread-bound books of ancient books in Nankai University Library. There are 24 Song and Yuan editions, more than 640 Ming editions, more than 900 fine editions in the early Qing Dynasty, nearly 300 manuscripts in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, 72 manuscripts, and more than 40 manuscripts in Korea and Japan. The special collection of documents includes foreign rare books, a large number of precious pictures and paintings, as well as a few lithographs, copperplate prints and hand-drawn maps of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, totaling 400 kinds and more than 3,200 volumes. The ancient books department also has more than 3,000 kinds of periodicals with 9,000 volumes before 1949.
