The school was founded in 200 1 by Information Technology College of Guilin Institute of Electronic Technology. In 2004, the Ministry of Education confirmed the school as an independent college. In May, 20021year, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was transformed into an independent private college at the undergraduate level and renamed Guilin Institute of Information Technology.
