Professor Wang Sheng from our college was invited to attend this academic conference.

This academic conference mainly focuses on two major themes: "economy and cooperation" and "politics and diplomacy".

Professor Wang Sheng gave a keynote speech on "Peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and China's national interests under the new situation" in the "Politics and Diplomacy" unit. Combining history and reality, the speech profoundly analyzed the strategic significance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula to China's national security, geo-strategy and geo-economy. From the historical experience, the stability of the Korean Peninsula is closely related to the historical fate of China. In reality, the independent peaceful reunification of the peninsula has a positive impact on the reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. Under the new situation, China should take two strategic countermeasures: to ensure the "smooth transition" of North Korea, to prevent the South Korean conservative forces from "absorbing and reunifying" for quick success, and to prepare for the US global strategy to move eastward to the Asia-Pacific region. Some viewpoints have attracted the attention and praise of scholars at home and abroad, especially experts on the Korean Peninsula in Taiwan Province and Hongkong.

18 the international symposium on "Mr. Kim and China: China Studies in Korea and Korean Studies in China" sponsored by the Korean Academy of Social Sciences and the Asian Institute of Korea University was held in Seoul from June 4 to 6. More than 30 famous scholars from China Jilin University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Yanbian University, Tokyo University, Miyazaki International University, Korea Korea University, Seoul University, Yonsei University, Asian University, Qi Ming University, Korea Cultural Research Institute, Foreign Affairs University, etc., involved in political diplomacy, economy, literature, history, philosophy and other fields attended the meeting. Professor Wang Sheng, a visiting researcher of Korean Academy of Social Sciences, was invited to attend this academic conference.

June 7 this year marks the first anniversary of the death of Mr. Kim, a well-known scholar, educator, former president of Korea University and president of the Korean Academy of Social Sciences. Before his death, Mr. Jin mobilized Korean enterprises and organizations to fund Korean studies in China, and successively helped more than a dozen universities (including scientific research institutions) to set up Korean research centers. In memory of this pioneer who has made outstanding contributions to the further development of Korean studies in China and China studies in South Korea, this international academic seminar is specially held. Jin Bingzhe, president of Korea University, gave a speech at the meeting. Professor Xu Zhenying, current president of the Korean Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Chi Qing, chairman of the board, and Professor Hyun in-taek, former minister of unification of South Korea, also attended the meeting. South Korea's mainstream media "East Asia Daily" and so on have made relevant reports.

This academic conference mainly revolves around three themes: Korean studies in China, China studies in Korea, regional studies in Kim and the reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

Professor Wang Sheng gave a keynote speech in Korean in the unit "Gold and Regional Studies and the Unification of the Korean Peninsula". Professor Wang Sheng pointed out in his speech that after the end of the Cold War, Yemen, Germany and other countries divided by the Cold War were unified one after another. The Korean Peninsula is a living fossil of the Cold War, and the reunification of the Korean Peninsula will also be a historical necessity and the general trend. As a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula, China, which is linked by mountains and rivers, is also a country suffering from division, and has a profound experience and understanding of the Korean Peninsula people's desire for reunification. From the historical experience, if the Korean Peninsula is reunified, China-DPRK relations will be stable and friendly, and China's eastern security will be guaranteed. When the Korean peninsula is divided or turbulent, China's security will be threatened. On the one hand, direct war with countries on the Korean Peninsula has repeatedly become the key factor of regime change in China. On the other hand, due to the suzerain-vassal relationship between China and Korea, it was dragged into four wars in Northeast Asia after modern times. Therefore, the stability of the Korean Peninsula is closely related to China's national interests. From the practical needs, although in the process of rising, China's current strategic concept is basically based on domestic economic construction, and it is committed to "creating a peaceful and stable international environment, a good-neighborly surrounding environment, an equal and mutually beneficial cooperation environment, and a safe environment of mutual trust and cooperation". On the Korean peninsula, China's primary interest is to "maintain stability without nuclear weapons" and "there can be no chaos or war on the peninsula". In addition, China is also eager for the reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Province Strait, and hopes that the DPRK and the ROK can achieve reunification through independent peaceful reunification rather than relying on the intervention of foreign forces, thus bringing positive influence to the reunification of the two sides. Therefore, the South Korean government has always supported the "Independent Peaceful Reunification Plan" put forward by the North and South sides of the Korean Peninsula at different times and all positive measures taken to realize the cause of reunification.

Finally, Professor Wang Sheng emphasized that at present, under the background that the global strategic focus of the United States is rapidly shifting eastward to the Asia-Pacific region, the situation on the peninsula is becoming more and more complicated in the face of the continuous strengthening of the Korea-US alliance, and China is not very clear about the future security direction of South Korea. Therefore, the China government, on the one hand, is "pleased" with the success of the independent peaceful reunification of the peninsula, and on the other hand, resolutely opposes the reunification achieved even by "non-peaceful means" under the intervention of foreign forces. Therefore, the Government of China has done everything possible to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Some of Professor Wang Sheng's viewpoints have attracted the attention and praise of scholars at home and abroad, especially Japanese and Korean scholars, and have been heatedly discussed. It has played a certain role in eliminating some misunderstandings of Korean and Japanese scholars on China's Korean Peninsula policy and deepening their understanding of China's Peninsula policy.
